20220303 - Limitation of S/MIME certificates lifetime to 3 years
Apple recently announced its decision to cease recognize S/MIME certificates valid more than 3 years (or 1185 days) on its products.
Certification authorities are taking measures to respect that decision.
When?
The deadline has been set to April 1st, 2022. We will then stop the products sale as of March 27, 2022.
For which products?
Only S/MIME certificates (including an e-mail field) are impacted. The TBS X509 Email Professional certificates lifetime will then be reduced to 3 years.
What about currently valid certificates?
Nothing. Only certificates issued after April 1st, 2022 are affected. Your currently valid certificates will keep working normally.
