Certificates monitoring by TBS INTERNET

TBS INTERNET offers all of its customers that opened an account a certificate monitoring tool. This tool allows you to periodically check your certificate installation on your server.

You will be notified, for all your monitored certificates, about protocol, encryption and vulnerability evolution for your server's SSL/TLS configuration. This will allow you to make sure your server always stays up to date regarding encryption standards and have optimal security during your certificate's lifetime and not just at its deployment.

Our monitoring is optional and replaces CoPiBot's default install scan.

Consulting monitoring reports is accessible to all your account users having technical or administrative rights.

If you have the required rights, you will then have access to the "Certificates Monitoring" section from the main menu of your certificate Center:

Managing your monitoring parameters

Before using the monitoring, you need to configure it. This section allows you to set up default parameters for your account.

You can access the feature from the left main menu of your customer area, via the "Monitoring parameters" link.

From this page you can modify the monitoring general parameters:

  • Activation by default: activates the monitoring for all new certificates.
  • Frequency by default: this is the monitoring's default scan frequency. A frequency of Never disables the monitoring.
  • Monitoring Manager: the monitoring manager is the account user that will receive all notification emails from the monitoring.
  • Email format: by default the emails are sent in HTML format but you can choose to receive them in a raw format without any styling.

But also choose the certificates concerned:

  • All certificates in the account: if the option is activated all active certificates in the account will be monitored. If it is deactivated you'll be able to select the certificates to monitor one by one in the "monitoring" page.
  • Imported certificates: you can activate the monitoring on the certificates you have purchased from another supplier and then imported in your account.

To validate your parameter, click on the "Save" button.

Certificate Monitoring

You can access the feature from the left main menu from your Certificate Center, via the "Monitoring" link.

The Certificate Monitoring Management page allows you to configure the monitoring per Certificate.

Note: by default, only monitored certificates are displayed. To display all the valid certificates of the account, check the "List all certificates" box at the top of the page.

The results table

By default the page presents a table of test results for the "CN tested" with the parameters used for the test.

You can identify your certificate using its TBS reference, its CA reference or your own, that you can fill on the order form.

The test results are displayed for each certificate in the “Latest Test Results” column. 3 types of returns can be presented:

  • If no problem was detected, the result will be displayed in green
  • If a problem is detected, the error type will be displayed in red
  • No scans have been performed

By clicking the link, you will be able to manually check the state of your certificate installation using CoPiBot.

Detail per certificate and modification of test parameters

The "Details" column allows you to show or hide the specific settings of each certificate:

  • CN to be tested: If the CN is a FQDN, it is the latter which is tested by default. If the certificate is a wildcard onr then the CN tested by default is "sub" (for example: for "*.domain.com", it is "sub.domain.com" that will be tested)
Note: It is possible to test several FQDN for wildcard or multiple site certificates. To do so, enter the FQDN to be tested in the "CN to be tested" field (on FQDN perline).

  • Port to be Tested:: Choose the desired port from the drop-down list

  • Type StartTLS: You can choose between different protocols (smtp, imap, ftp, etc.)

  • Monitoring activation: You can choose to enable or disable monitoring on specific certificates according to your needs

  • Selection of frequency: You can choose a specific frequency for each of your certificates

  • The last column presents the certificate information (serial number, CA reference, etc.)
