Generate a CSR for Plesk

Warning: this documentation is only accurate for Plesk in shared IP address mode.

The following instructions can be applied to the versions 6, 7 and 8 of Plesk.

1- Generate the certificate request

Login as administrator to the control panel and click on Server Management.

Click on Certificates > Add a certificate

Fill in the form (see instructions here: obtain a server certificate. Name the certificate and select a key length ( 2048-bit at least).

Click Request. Plesk will then generate a private key and the associated CSR. It usually sends an e-mail containing the private key and the certificate. Save it.

Then go back to the Certificates page. Click on the certificate that you just requested (at the bottom).

In the middle of the following page, you'll see the CSR that you'll have to copy/paste in the order form. This CSR should look like:

-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE REQUEST-----
MIIBSzCB9gIBADCBkDELMAkGA1UEBhMCVVMxDjAMBgNVBAgTBVRleGFzMQ4wDAYD
