Export a user certificate from Internet Explorer
To export a user certificate from Internet Explorer (creation of a .pfx file):- On Internet Explorer go to Tools / Internet Options / Content / Certificates
- You'll find your certificate in the Personnel tab. Select it.
- Click on Export and get through the first page of the helper
- Select Export the private key then click on Next
- Select a PKCS12 exportation and only tick the first of the 3 boxes (Include all certificates in the certification path if possible). If the file is going to be imported on a machine with a recent Windows you can also tick the second box (Enable strong protection).
- Then enter the password of the PKCS12 file encypherment (twice). This password will be essential to re-import the certificate and its private key.
- Finaly choose the file's path and name
- Confirm the recap. The file is created!
